Authenticity as a means for building trust
Authenticity is vital for building trust-relationships with clients. If you're asking someone to trust you, you have to show them who you are.
In this session, we help social workers learn how to be their authentic self while in a professional role by increasing understanding of what authenticity is, the common barriers to authenticity, and learning practical methods to help practise authenticity.
Making empathy conscious
Empathy is a vital resource in any human profession, but especially in the caring professions. In this workshop, we look at the power imbalance in the social worker/service user relationship, and practical steps social workers can take to help put their clients at ease.
Focusing on elements like eye contact, body language, use of voice, listening skills, and use of emotion, we help social workers make their empathy conscious and learn how to use this to help others.
