Digital Interludes is a feast of digital content co-created with young people and professional artists, premiering May 2022.
It includes film shorts, animations, spoken word pieces, events, downloadable resources and more - for anyone 11+ who is interested in young people's issues. It can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home, or as a group in your school or community - as a short creative interlude or a deeper engagement (with the accompanying resource packs). Whatever your preference, we invite you to engage and enjoy!
Digital Interludes is a culmination of work by young people from COVID-impacted projects over the last 12 months. We are so proud of the resilience of our young people, as they have continually adapted to the ever-changing landscape. Within these reimagined projects, we discovered lots of brilliant, exciting new ways to creatively amplify young people’s voices whilst connecting with our ever-growing digital Mortal Fools community.
The Digital Interludes content is full of hope; stories of human connection, reimagined futures, shared lessons, insights and opportunities to reflect. Our hope is that it sparks something in you – be it a new way of thinking, an idea, a moment of joy, or hope for the future. We would love to hear your thoughts on social media, so please tag us @mortalfoolsuk or use #DigitalIyInterluded
DIGITAL CONTENT
Four bitter-sweet, poignant film shorts from Mortal Fools’ Ensemble Young Company, following a group of young people navigating the reality of friendship in the modern world. What if growing up means growing apart?
Mark, Maisie, Izzy, Rhiannon and Abel all started off as strangers in this world – but somewhere along the way, they became friends. Really good friends; clicked, connected, comfortable and comrades. But recently, things have felt more complicated. Friendships are malfunctioning, everything is changing, and there are too many things left unsaid.
Co-created with young people and professional artists, each short story explores the belonging that stems from finding your people. Your people might be folks you’re already friends with or they might be people you’ve just not met yet……. You’ll know when you find them.

#FindYourPeople
An educational and practice-sharing video series about working in co-creation with children and young people.
The series walks you through the experience of our young people co-creating new devised pieces of theatre with Mortal Fools, including some examples of activities that you might like to try yourself. We share elements of our creative process - the tasks and activities we do to create new pieces of work - and the relational process - how we work together, and the environment we create.
Our Sparked films are there to be watch, enjoyed, revisited and over the next couple of years, we will be adding more films to the series.

Mortal Fools Youth Theatre were BACK ON STAGE, presenting their version of When This Is Over on Saturday 29th January 2022 to two big (nearly sold out!) crowds at Gosforth Civic Theatre.
After world leaders gathered in Glasgow for COP26 to decide the future of the world, a group of children and young people came together in North East England to tell the story of their lives - their past, present and future.
When This Is Over explored themes including young people's voices, climate emergency, the future, friendship, the value of community, human stories and social action. We ran with those themes to work with even more young people and partners, and create an array of digital content.
