EMPLOYABILITY RESOURCES
& DIGITAL CONTENT
Creative Careers ResourceA no-nonsense guide to developing your employability and/or navigating entry into the North East creative industries.

Creative Careers Webinar We invited Danielle Slade (professional writer, theatre maker, and facilitator) and Stan Hodgson (professional theatre director, theatre maker, actor, and facilitator) to share their career stories and advice for young people thinking about working in the creative industries.
This webinar is just over 13 minutes long, animated by professional animator Sheryl Jenkins, and has two accompanying activity sheets to be used after you’ve watched the video. This webinar is suitable for ages 7-16. |
Creative Catalyst: Creative Careers – Event RecordingMortal Fools hosted a one-off digital event in 2022 and invited Mortal Fools staff and creative professional friends to come together to share their career stories, industry tips, lessons learned, and real talk - to inspire young people aged 16-25 into the creative industries. |
This is the edited recording of the digital event - approximately 1 hour 20 minutes long.
Teachers/lecturers can use this as part of a careers day/week in their secondary school or college/university. Youth workers/creative professionals can watch in their settings with a group of young people interested in the creative industries. And you can share with any young person you know who is interested in pursuing a creative career!

Fortune Teller ActivityIn the 80s & 90s, Fortune Tellers were a popular fun thing kids used to make in the playground, to predict their future.
Mortal Fools have reimagined this concept to focus on employability, and to encourage careers-based conversations with young people. All you need to do is print the resource out and work through the instructions on the activity sheet. You can do this with an individual young person or a group/class. |
CREATIVE CONTENT - PLATFORMING YOUNG PEOPLE'S VOICES
Across our employability interventions and consultation work, we’ve worked with hundreds of young people to co-create digital content that creatively expresses their hopes, dreams, fears, lived experience, insights, and thoughts about their employability and entering the workforce.
The following animations can be watched with young people to spark conversations and to inspire - or can be watched by youth workers, decision makers, and folks with a vested interest in young people’s employability, to hear about their experiences, perceptions, and the challenges they face.

Confidence is...A group of young people worked with Mortal Fools and The Kings Trust on a week-long employability programme called 'Get Started With: Performance & Creativity'. This inspiring and empowering animation is full of advice from young people who have struggled with low confidence, for other young people who may feel similar.

The Future is Bright... The Future is OUR YOUTHThis radio advert was created by a Future Ready employability programme participant. It champions reasons for employers to take a chance and employ more young people into the workplace. This young person’s recording was then brought to life visually by professional animator and Mortal Fools Associate Artist Sheryl Jenkins.
