Mortal Fools Ensemble Young Company is for Northumberland young people aged 14 – 19 (School Years 9+). Our Ensemble Young Company make theatre and film through the process of co-creation, where young people and professional artists work together to contribute their ideas, skills, and opinions as part of the devising process.
We recruit into our Ensemble Young Company once a year and members take part in an exciting year-long programme of activity and attend weekly sessions.
EYC operates across our two youth theatre bases: Tyne Valley and Ashington. Through the week, these groups work separately, and then during weekends and school holidays, we come together as a full company.

Taster sessions are open to Mortal Fools Youth Theatre members that fall into the EYC age range and young people who have not engaged with Mortal Fools before! Our tasters are an opportunity to give a EYC session a go, get creative and to meet some current members.

Tasters are free (as is being a part of EYC) and happening on the following dates:
- Thursday 3rd July, 5:45pm - 7:45pm at Ashington Family Hub (NE63 9EF)
- Tuesday 8th July, 6pm - 8pm at Riding Mill Parish Hall (NE44 6DJ)
- Sunday 13th July, Sunday 10am-4.30pm at Newbiggin Sports and Community Hub (NE64 6HG)

WHAT WILL THE TASTER SESSIONS BE LIKE?
Welcoming, friendly, fun, inclusive and creative!
Each session will be a mixture of current EYC members and lots of brand-new interested members.

- Fun drama games.
- Facilitated introductions – meet and make friends with other young people.
- Creative tasks working together as a team.
- Generating creative content in response to themes and questions.
- Working towards a mini performance/sharing for other group members.
- Hearing about our exciting new EYC project starting in September.
- Opportunities to hear from and meet Mortal Fools practitioners and current EYC members – find out what being a member is like.
