HAF 2025
Across Summer 2025, Mortal Fools worked in partnership with Full Circle Food Project and Ashington Family Hub to deliver three days of ‘Creativity Unleashed’ workshops as part of Northumberland Summer Holiday Provision.
These creative workshops engaged 37 young people aged 7-12, providing opportunities to explore drama games and creative activities, and enjoy a nutritious lunch. Each workshop had a different theme, and included a wide range of activities, including acting, animation, drawing and zine making. The activities developed the participants' well-being and confidence, and helped them get to know each other and make new friends.
Full Circle Good Project provided delicious and nutritious lunches across the three days, including tasty vegetables picked straight from their community allotment in Hirst Park. The young people got to try a range of different foods, coming away with a few new favourites!
The vast majority of participants had never taken part in a Mortal Fools activity before and many have gone on to join our youth theatre and continue engaging with our activities.

“We are thrilled with the success of our Northumberland HAF programme this summer, in partnership with Full Circle Food Project and Ashington Family Hub. Across three days, 37 young people came together to share ideas, make new friends, grow in confidence and enjoy plenty of creative fun. This collaboration shows the power of community partnerships and the importance of ensuring accessible creative opportunities for all. We’re excited to keep building on this work alongside young people, families, and local partners celebrating the creativity and talent here in Ashington.”
-Ellie Turner, Executive Director at Mortal Fools

CREATIVITY UNLEASHED WORKSHOPS
"The best thing about the HAF sessions was meeting so many new young people who had never been to a Mortal Fools session before, and it has been lovely to see some of these young people join us on our current youth theatre project! I loved seeing the young people express themselves creatively and learn new skills in the sessions. It has also been a great opportunity to grow our partnerships with local organisations Full Circle Food Project and Family Hubs, providing healthy, nutritious food and high-quality spaces for us to run our sessions in."
-Jessica Whittle, Assistant Producer at Mortal Fools
Feedback from participants and their families:
“Luna thought the club was amazing”
“The leaders were good fun and lively”
"Food was amazing & healthy. Loved doing the activity.”
