What the World Needs Now (April - July 2020)

What the World Needs Now was an online youth theatre project for children in school years 3-6 who were new or existing members of MFYT’s Stage 2 and Ovingham Middle School groups. The project provided young people with a safe and creative space to share their thoughts, feelings and ideas, as well as an opportunity to connect with their friends.
Over the course of 11 weeks, our practitioners gathered content from our members through weekly online youth theatre workshops and creative at-home video tutorial tasks. Using this content, they created ‘a gift to the world’ in the form of a good news report. |

Coronavirus Time Capsule (April - July 2020)
The #CoronavirusTimeCapsule was created by Company Three, a fantastic youth theatre based in London. We took part in this project alongside 100s of other youth theatres and community groups all across the world, gathering 15-second submissions from young people on different topical themes during weekly Zoom workshops. Unfolding week-to-week, the project provided our members with the opportunity to express themselves and maintain a sense of creativity and community during a difficult time.

Accompanied by original music and soundscape, Mortal Fools Youth Theatre created this unique audio series to share the real-life voices of young people and communities from across the North-East, taking you on a journey of discovery, escape and hope for the future.
Let Us Tell You (October 2020)
This Mortal Fools Youth Theatre project produced two unique films, inspired and connected by two questions:
- If you could say one thing to other young people right now, what would it be?
- If you could change one thing for young people right now, what would it be?

RELENTLESS and Hugging Dogs, cancelled shows
Due to the COVID pandemic restricting gatherings and performances, two productions were cancelled shortly before being shared with the public.
"We are all trapped on a non-stop loop of what everybody else thinks we should, could or need to be doing with our lives... but we’re realising that it’s OUR life. We’re done with being TOLD. We’re ready to be HEARD."
Relentless was a theatre show from our Ensemble Youth Theatre group about what it means to be growing up and getting by in a chaotic new decade; fears, wants, hopes and voices laid bare, and accompanied by a soundtrack worthy of your most-played Spotify top spot.
Hugging Dogs was also an original theatre show, created from scratch in partnership with students from Collingwood School. Through a collection of inter-linked stories, the show delved into the theme of happiness – how and where we seek it out, what it means to each of us, and whether we are spending too much time looking for it in the wrong places.
