Flux Tour (April 2022)
|
12 unique young voices came together on stage, to explore what it means to question your identity in a world that feels determined to put you in a box. Devised and performed by the young people living through this reality right now, our audiences discovered that there is freedom in the flux - and that labels are for bottles, not people.
Starring our Ensemble Young Company, our sell-out performances of Flux at YMCA Northumberland and Gosforth Civic Theatre were the group's first since before the pandemic. A filmed version of the show was recorded, for distribution to schools and youth settings, and can be watched below. |
When This Is Over (January 2022)
Developed as both a live theatre show and a digital showcase, When This Is Over was a creative counterpoint to the debates happening in Glasgow at COP26. Children and young people from the north east came together, developing three brand new short plays over eight months, to tell the story of their lives - their pasts, presents and futures.
Fools Fest (autumn 2022)
Over 200 people joined our Youth Theatre groups for two nights of community celebration and revelry, showcasing a variety of performances created by our young people throughout the Autumn of 2022 - including theatre, film, improv, music, foley, and more. From folklore and fairy tales, to music and monologues, over 80 young people performed, led the festivities, and delighted audiences in Ashington and Tyne Valley.
My People (spring 2022)
|
|
Four bitter-sweet, poignant film shorts from Mortal Fools’ Ensemble Young Company, following a group of young people navigating the reality of friendship in the modern world. What if growing up means growing apart?
Co-created with young people and professional artists, each short story explores the belonging that stems from finding your people. Your people might be folks you’re already friends with or they might be people you’ve just not met yet; you’ll know when you find them. |
Come On In (spring/summer 2022)
Taking inspiration from Northumberland author and illustrator Charlie Mackesy’s beautiful book, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse, Mortal Fools’ Youth Theatre worked together to create 5 interactive, immersive performances.
Our members invited our Mortal Fools community to a housewarming party like no other and nearly 200 of you joined us! Attendees came together as party guests for an hour of joy, celebration, hope, party bags, the Macarena and (of course) cake.

This video series offers a guide to co-creating with young people, presented and produced by Mortal Fools Youth Theatre members, including Mark and Maisie, who have since joined our Board of Trustees!
Sparked shares elements of our creative process - the tasks and activities we do to create new pieces of work - and the relational process, of how we work together and the environment we create. |
