Pieces of
Heaven
February 2015

Our first collaborative project with Queen’s Hall Youth Theatre saw three groups of young people from TVYT, our group at St Joseph’s Middle School and Queen’s Hall Youth Theatre create and perform original pieces of theatre inspired by David Almond’s ‘’Heaven Eyes’’.

Celebration of Stage & Screen
February 2015

Our ‘’Celebration of Stage & Screen’’ was a night planned and presented by our ‘’Young Leaders’’ group, which had recently been launched to allow our young people to become even more involved with the youth theatre. It was a night of music, dance, original performances and ‘’red carpet’’ antics!

Hospital Food: National Theatre Connections
March 2015

Our 2015 entry into the National Theatre Connections festival, on its 25th anniversary. Performed in Riding Mill and at the Northern Stage in Newcastle, Hospital Food was a poignant piece following the script by Eugene O’Hare, set in a teenage cancer ward.

Whisper These Woods
April 2015

Our Easter Play in a Week of 2015 saw TVYT explore ‘’micro theatre’’ for the first time, as audiences moved around small performances spaces, taking a glimpse into a range of scenes in extraordinary circumstances - a wedding gone wrong and a rubber dinghy stranded at sea containing some absurd passengers, to name a few.

Showtime Spectacular
June 2015

Showtime Spectacular saw two TVYT groups dive into the world of musical theatre once more, with our St Joseph’s Middle School group using Blood Brothers as a stimulus, whilst our Riding Mill group were inspired by Hairspray. This night of performances contained lots of singing, dancing and even a musical performance of ‘’Wicked’’ by our Artistic Director and CEO Kiz, and former practitioner Elishia.

The Birds Stopped to Listen August 2015

Our first Summer Play in a Week project of 2015 was inspired by Suzanne Collins’ ‘’The Hunger Games’’, commenting on themes of dystopian governments, global warming and the rise of technology, with the central location of the action being a large sand pit - a very exciting performance space for us!

Them Next Door
August 2015

Our second Summer Play in a Week project of 2015 saw us delve into installation theatre, clowning, mask work and physical theatre, when devising a piece inspired by Roald Dahl’s ‘’The Twits’’.

Henka No Yoro - The Night of Change December 2015

Henka No Yoro was an event planned and presented by members of our Young Leaders group, in order to round off a busy year of amazing work across our youth theatre! This evening contained performances from all of our weekly groups around the theme of ‘’change’’, whilst the design of the night itself was based upon a timeline of Tyne Valley Youth Theatre throughout the years. Alongside a range of performances, the evening also held the 2015 TVYT Awards.
