OUR WORK
with SCHOOLS

Against the backdrop of the pandemic and upsetting world events, Mortal Fools, like so many other charities, has been working hard to make a positive difference to our communities and to the children, young people, families and schools we work with.

We are currently working with Highfield Middle School (Prudhoe), Duke's Secondary School (Ashington), and The Duchess's Community High School (Alnwick), as part of our Creative Interventions project. Furthermore, nearly 40 schools and primary settings are using our fun and accessible creative digital intervention, Melva.

We specialise in co-creation with children and young people aged 7-25, delivering a variety of activities and school projects throughout the year. Our projects take place in school and educational settings. Through our projects, young people and schools connect with our work in a range of different ways:
  • Light engagements – like watching a show or having a few workshops.
  • Moderate engagements – like taking part in a series of workshops and co-creating work over a fixed-term.
  • Deep engagements – like working on projects with us over a long period of time.

Our work with schools and education settings is varied and unique. We work with schools in a variety of different ways, including:
  • Delivering in-person activities and projects for young people.
  • Delivering in-person and digital training opportunities for school staff.
  • Touring our young people's theatre shows and digital work to schools (with accompanying workshops).
  • Creating innovative, online resources for schools to purchase and use in the classroom or at home.
