Mortal Fools Youth Theatre is open to young people aged 5–19 years. We run weekly Youth Theatre groups, split by age in Ashington.
At Mortal Fools, we focus on supporting children and young people’s creativity, wellbeing, and self-belief, using the medium of drama. We believe youth theatre can be a brilliant a vehicle to help young people to build their confidence and skills, support their mental heath, and to make sense of the world around them.
There are no auditions, no drama experience necessary, and no fees (although donations are welcome!). All we ask for is a willingness to give things a go, passion for performing, and lots of curious creativity.

NEW STAGE 1 GROUP
We are launching a brand-new Youth Theatre group for children aged 5-7 years in Ashington this September!
Over the last two years, we’ve had LOADS of requests from our Mortal Fools Ashington community, to start a group for children under 7 and we’ve decided to make it happen! We’ve been chatting to parents, carers, teachers and children themselves, about the types of things they’d like this group to offer and how it might support members through creativity!
The first session is on 15th September and sessions will be on Mondays 16:00 - 17:00 at Ashington Family Hub during term time.

YOUTH THEATRE PROJECTS AND CONTENT
Watch This SpaceChange is everywhere; it’s scary, fun, unexpected, exciting, overwhelming, hopeful and so much more. But for young people, change often happens TO them – adults make the decisions, and they have to deal with the dizzying consequences.
Join Mortal Fools Youth Theatre as they ride the waves of change in their lives, holding tight to the things they love, making their own decisions and discovering who they are. They might not know what the future will hold, but they’re ready for it! |
Sounding Board Digital! We passed the mic to our youth theatre members to show what really matters to them, as they use music to express their true selves and share what makes them feel happy and heard.
Check out the full collection of short films and music videos, filled with bold, thought-provoking lyrics, catchy tunes, and creative soundscapes! |
The Bigger PictureThe voices of 75 young people from Northumberland and the North East come together in a collection of short films, created by Mortal Fools Youth Theatre with Fly Girl Films and Mortal Fools’ associate artists.
