As a charity, we rely and welcome donations and financial contributions from individuals and businesses to support our continued work. Your donations and investment go directly back into our work with children and young people.
An investment in Mortal Fools is an investment in children and young in the North East – their present and their future.
We work with thousands of children and young people every year, mostly in the North East. Our work engages, enables, and empowers young people through our creative projects to grow and evolve, whilst existing as an early intervention; providing safe spaces to scaffold towards good mental health and a positive future.
We are a purpose-driven organisation. Our work must be relevant to and matter in wider society, and make a demonstrable and measurable difference to those we work with. We recognise that the presence of positive and secure interpersonal relationships is a key factor in personal wellbeing, motivation, civil engagement, and life fulfilment. We use drama and theatre-based approaches –interpersonal by nature – to support people to build the skills and knowledge to form and maintain better relationships. This work is positive action against the shift towards the divided, competitive, and aggressive societal changes seen in the UK and wider world in recent years.
Positive mental health and wellbeing outcomes are an integral part of our work. We use the ratified PERMA Framework™ as our approach to embedding, monitoring, and evaluating the impact of our work against defined wellbeing outcomes. Therefore we can demonstrate that our work brings about changes in behaviour and outlook, confidence, personal accomplishment, personal resilience, positive self-image, and empowers towards a more positive future.
You can play an important part in the futures of children and young people during an incredibly challenging time, when the demand for our work and support is increasing. By donating or financially supporting Mortal Fools, together we can make a tangible difference and positively impact the lives of North East young people.
If you're unable to donate, you can support us in a variety of other ways. You can attend our shows, join our groups, engage with our digital content, and champion our work to others.

Another year of conscious and thoughtful growth! Across the last year, we’ve supported more young people than ever before and co-created some brilliant work.
